Eastern Gateway Community College and UC Enter Articulation Agreement

Eastern Gateway Community College and University of Cincinnati Enter Articulation Agreement for Social Work Online Degree Program

The agreement allows those with an associate degree in either the Associate of Arts in Social Work/ Social Services/ Human Services program or the Associate in Applied Science in Social Work program to enter the University of Cincinnati Social Work online bachelor’s degree completion program quickly and with all credits accepted for transfer.

Cincinnati, Ohio: January 3, 2023 – University of Cincinnati (UC) and Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC) are pleased to announce an articulation agreement. The agreement allows students to complete two years of study at EGCC. The EGCC credits will transfer to University of Cincinnati’s online Bachelor of Social Work program for the third and fourth year of study.

“This agreement between Eastern Gateway Community College and the University of Cincinnati is a great benefit for our students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work once they have completed their first two years at Eastern Gateway Community College.  We are grateful to the University of Cincinnati who values our college, and we value theirs,” said Dr. Thomas Graham, Academic Dean at EGCC. “Students who go into social work do so because they care for those less fortunate than themselves.  They do it for the intrinsic value of helping another person.  The reward that one gets by helping another person in whatever they need in life is worth a lot more than money.  We are grateful there are individuals who put service above self.”

The new agreement allows Eastern Gateway Community College to help students complete their bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati without compromising work and family commitments. Students will have a seamless transfer process and are given a clear path to degree completion.

“Our partnership with Eastern Gateway Community College is a collaborative effort we are proud to be a part of,” said Dr. Wayne Kinney, program director for UC’s Online Bachelor of Social Work program. “This signifies a powerful alliance, with the students of EGCC as the main benefactors. Learners who start their academic career with EGCC will be assured that they can continue that journey while making sure that the coursework that they have already accomplished will be fully leveraged towards their continued education goals. We believe EGCC shares the same values and dedication to providing the best educational experience for its students. This means these students will be well prepared to complete their BSW here at the University of Cincinnati School of Social Work. We are pleased to join EGCC in this worthy goal.”
