UC’s online Master of Health Informatics (MHI) is designed to equip students with a unique combination of healthcare and IT expertise – both skills that are in increasingly high demand. As the field of health informatics continues to expand, many healthcare professionals are transitioning to more data-driven, technology-based roles.
MHI faculty members include leading healthcare experts as well as nationally-known professors from the University of Cincinnati’s Top-Ranked Analytics Program at the world-renowned Carl H. Lindner College of Business. In fact, Predictive Analytics Today ranked UC the “#1 Data Science School” in the country; and InformationWeek ranked the Data Analytics Program at the Lindner College of Business one of the “Top 20 Data Analytics Programs in North America”.
In 2019, UC’s Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems (OBAIS) was awarded the “UPS George D. Smith Prize” for its innovative curriculum. The MHI curriculum is uniquely blended and balanced – effectively preparing students to be leaders, managers and successful research and analytics professionals after graduation.
Our online Master of Health Informatics degree program is currently in Candidacy Status, pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
MHI Program Outcomes:
Health informatics is a rapidly-growing, interdisciplinary field of study that combines data analytics, technology and innovation with healthcare delivery. Today’s informatics professionals are shaping the future of the healthcare industry through the development and adoption of cutting-edge technological innovations in the medical industry.
The field of health informatics arose out of the Federal mandate for the healthcare industry’s transition to electronic health records (EHR). Today, with more patient and healthcare system data being generated than ever before, the science of health informatics is focused on how technological innovations can be used to harness this unprecedented access to information to improve human health.
On the IT side, health informatics experts are developing new technologies designed to improve care; on the clinical side, informatics specialists are working to ensure that every patient’s data is accurate, complete and readily accessible to the healthcare providers who need it, with the understanding that technology is also giving patients more autonomy and control of their own electronic health records.
UC’s Master of Health Informatics program is focused on the development and mastery of the technical, analytical, leadership, management and communication skills students need to become leaders in the increasingly complex, data-reliant healthcare industry.
Our faculty members are experienced, knowledgeable, supportive and well-connected!
“As a full- time, working, single parent, the MHI program allowed me to balance all of my responsibilities and provide me with the flexibility I needed to succeed. I was really excited that the curriculum aligned so well with my job role as a Clinical Application Analyst. Coming to work every day and being able to apply what I learned in my classes was very rewarding. If there are students interested in understanding the IT role and how it aligns with Healthcare, I believe this program will satisfy their needs. I was extremely pleased, and I look forward to all of the doors this accomplishment will open for me.”
