Program: Master of Sport Administration

Background:

I have been working in higher education for over ten years and have loved ever part of it. My main priority is to make sure that all my students are setup for success from the beginning to the end program of their program. One primary goal is to make sure students feel confident in reaching out to me whenever they have any questions. The best part of my role as a student success coordinator is calling students to congratulate them on all their hard work right before they graduate.

Orientation Support:

As soon as students are accepted into the program, I send a welcome email with a link to schedule a welcome call. On the call, we go through a mini orientation, and I go over program details, important UC websites, resources, and I answer student questions. Afterward, I send a follow up summary email with details of our discussion, resources, links, and guides.

In addition, there is an online orientation for the program before you start classes as well and the program directors also host a meet and greet right before the semester starts.

A key part of the program is expanding your network, so you will be invited to join the UC MS-SPAD LinkedIn group. These are one of many tools and resources you will have access to with the MS-SPAD program.

Administration Support:

UC offers a multitude of support services for students. This all starts with one-on-one access to your Student Success Coordinator (SSC). In additions, students have access to financial aid, technology, accessibility, academic, career, and counseling resources.

Course Registration:

Registration guides and course sequences are sent to students and can be done by the student alone or with their Student Success Coordinator (SSC). Registration is about a five-to-ten-minute phone conversation. I send reminder emails, make phones calls, and text when registration is open and when the deadline is approaching.

Check-ins:

As a Student Success Coordinator (SSC), I will be in communication with students prior to, during, and at the end of your program. I mainly communicate via email, with the occasional calls, and text. In addition to the welcome call, I will do a first term check in between weeks 3 and 6 of the first semester.

I also call students in their last semester to congratulate them and make sure they enjoyed the program. I periodically send emails with resources, reminders, and deadlines. If anything is urgent, I call students as soon as possible. I am always open to talk with student throughout any part of their program, in fact, I encourage students to reach out to me.

Graduation Support:

Students will receive information from the University and their Student Success Coordinator (SSC) about graduation application deadlines and commencement details. During the welcome call, we determine what course sequence best works for students, whether it is full-time or part-time. Based on that information, you will know when to expect to finish and graduate from the program. If any changes need to be made, we can always readjust and you will get an updated graduation date.
