UC Online’s Public Health Program Exceeds Student’s Expectations

The decision to return to college after a hiatus can be overwhelming. That was the case for Nyoka Paul, who resumed her education journey after a 20-year break from school. What she found through her experience was that the University of Cincinnati Online exceeded her expectations. Nyoka is now approaching her graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health by Spring 2023.

Nyoka shared with us how she plans to use her degree and the path she took to get there.

What do you plan to do with your degree?

I plan to seek employment and continue my education. I would love to pursue a Master of Public Health degree.

What motivated you to seek this degree through UC Online?

After the pandemic in 2020, I was inspired to reinvent myself with a new focus on finishing my degree… As a former University of Cincinnati student, I was compelled to return to UC and complete my degree.

Why did you choose an online program versus on campus?

I chose online studies because it offers convenience and flexibility.

How would you describe the online program? Was it what you expected?

The online learning experience has been great for my lifestyle… I really did not know what to expect after being out of school for over 20 years. I can say that the online program has exceeded expectations.

What were your concerns about enrolling? What would you say to someone considering UC Online?

My concern was more about making a commitment to finish my degree as opposed to attending classes online… I would tell them to just do it. I believe that once they start the online classes it will be hard to walk back into a classroom.

Overall, would you recommend UC Online?

I have always been a fierce advocate for the University of Cincinnati, and I will continue to be… I would like to recognize the awesome staff in the department of public health. The advisors, professors, etc., are all extremely valuable to making the online program successful.
