Our online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy empowers medical professionals to advance their careers and take on roles as leaders in their workplace. For students looking to transfer credits from associate degree programs, this is made easier by our articulation agreements with many community colleges around the United States. If you’re currently a registered respiratory care worker, you can earn your bachelor’s degree online and on a flexible schedule in under two years at the University of Cincinnati.

Prerequisite Coursework

  • Earned associate degree in respiratory care or respiratory therapy from a CoARC accredited institution.
  • 70 Credit Hours are eligible to be transferred from your associate degree in respiratory care or respiratory therapy.

CoARC Associate Degree

Hold an associate degree from a CoARC-accredited respiratory care/respiratory therapy program at a regionally accredited institution.

a.***If a student has graduated from a CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program that is not regionally accredited, transcripts will be reviewed to determine if all general education requirements have been met.


NBRC Credentials

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) who is eligible to take the RRT Clinical Simulation Exam.  For questions regarding the NBRC Clinical Simulation Exam admission requirements see the NBRC CSE webpage.  Students who enroll as a CRT must earn the RRT credential before enrolling in advanced courses in the program.  The program will provide CRT students with the Kettering National Seminars RRT Home Study guide as well as Clinical Simulation Exam reimbursement.

Minimum GPA

Have earned a minimum GPA of 2.5 in associate level respiratory therapy courses.

Transfer Credits through Our Articulation Agreements

To make transferring credits from your associate degree more convenient, the University of Cincinnati has formed articulation agreements with several community colleges offering accredited respiratory care programs. If your community college does not appear on this list, please reach out to our enrollment advisor to discuss your credit transfer options.
