At the University of Cincinnati, we’re proud to have more than 2,000 military-affiliated students among our ranks, including active-duty military, National Guard and Reserves members, veterans, and family members. Every one of these students enjoys a flexible, high-quality educational experience tailored to their unique needs, from financial aid to college credit to personal counseling services. Because no matter when, how, or where you’ve served, we’re here to help you obtain the degree and future you deserve.

Leverage Your Benefits

There are various options available for financial support to pay for your UC Online degree, including federal tuition assistance, the Montgomery GI Bill®, and Post 9/11 GI Bill®. As a proud Yellow Ribbon partner school that was ranked one of the Best Online Colleges for Veterans in 2022 (College Consensus), we have the resources and experience to help you utilize your options. To apply for financial aid at UC Online, you must:

1. Submit your application to the VA to determine your eligibility.
2. Apply for admission to the University of Cincinnati.
3. Confirm your degree program and major.
4. Prepare for out-of-pocket expenses.
5. Complete a VPS questionnaire.
6. Work with a college advisor to select appropriate courses.
7. Complete the VPS benefits form and submit it to the Office of Veterans Affairs.
8. Check your eligibility for Ohio in-state tuition through the “Ohio G.I. Promise” and apply if appropriate.

Active military and veterans may also be eligible for a scholarship — of $2,500 per semester for full-time students and $1,500 per semester for part-time students — for programs through our College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology.

Military Experience = College Credit

At UC Online, we accept and award college credit for military experience in the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard, which can help reduce costs and time. If you’ve earned military credit, contact the appropriate registry — either the American Council on Education Registry and Transcript System or the Community College of the Air Force Transcripts — to have your official transcripts sent to us. Once received, we’ll send you a Credit Evaluation Report showing your equivalent courses and credit hours.

VetSuccess Online

The Department of Veterans Affairs has developed the VetSuccess Online Program to help active military, veterans, and their families make the transition to college life. Through this program, you’ll receive a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and Vet Center Outreach Coordinator to address any problems or concerns you may have before they begin to interfere with your classes, assignments, or everyday responsibilities.

Operation Homefront

The University of Cincinnati partners with Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization whose goal is to build strong, stable, and secure military families that can thrive in the communities they’ve worked so hard to protect. By enrolling at UC Online, you’ll help play a pivotal role in our ability to continue supporting the important work of this indispensable organization.
