What will I learn in a Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate program?

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing’s Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Post-Master’s Certificate Program equips advanced-practice nurses with the expertise and critical thinking skills to assess, diagnose, and manage patients across their lifespans. FNPs deliver comprehensive primary care in diverse settings—from community clinics and private offices to urgent care and outpatient facilities.

Graduates of the Post-Master’s Certificate FNP program will have met the criteria for taking both the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) and AANP (American Academy of Nurse Practitioners) certification exams.

Applicants will need:

  • An active and unrestricted United States RN license.
  • Master of Science in Nursing degree conferred from a regionally and nursing accredited institution (ACEN or CCNE).
  • A year or more of clinical nursing experience.

Licensure

Graduates are eligible to sit for ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) or the AANP (American Academy of Nurse Practitioners) certification exam.
