Admission Requirements
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in either a school or informal education setting, or an active teaching license
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as demonstrated by a transcript
- Goal statement explaining why the STEM and Sustainability Education certificate is of interest
- Two letters of reference (at least one of which discusses teaching experience)
Student Learning Objectives:
- Craft or adopt integrated STEM/sustainability curricula and activities.
- Execute, oversee, and evaluate student learning during STEM/sustainability engagements.
- Develop curricula intersecting STEM education and sustainability.
- Create project-based, inquiry-based, and problem-solving activities.
The STEM and Sustainability Education Graduate Certificate is designed to expand employment opportunities by growing participant's capacity for curricular design and instructional effectiveness in STEM and Sustainability courses and/or integration into other subject areas. The program is meant to support participants who either wish to enter the classroom are already there or support and engage in-service teachers. It can also bolster the employability of those who wish to enter informal education settings including museums nature centers libraries etc. Graduates of this program will be prepared for the careers listed below. All opportunities may not be listed.
