Master of Social Work Program Overview

Social work is an integral support structure meant to aid individuals as they navigate challenges throughout life's various stages. In this program, students will gain the skills and knowledge that will prepare them for advanced practice. The Master of Social Work degree signifies that an individual has the ability to serve their community independently following clinical licensure.

Upon graduation, students of this program should be prepared to:

  • Engage in advanced, specialized, and independent social work practice with individuals, families, and groups.
  • Make assessments and valuable interventions to those served using knowledge of theory and research based evidence.
  • Work in leadership roles and advocate for policies and programs that would help empower vulnerable populations.

The University of Cincinnati's online course fees differ depending on the program. On average, students will accrue fewer fees than students attending on-campus classes.

The one fee applied across all UC Online programs is the distance learning fee. Students living outside the state of Ohio must also pay an additional “non-resident” fee to enroll in courses at UC Online. This fee is lower than the out-of-state fee for traditional on-campus programs.
