Why study RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing?

The Online RN to BSN program builds on the knowledge and experience of registered nurses and strengthens their ability to deliver high quality, evidence based care. Students expand their skills in interprofessional collaboration, patient safety, health promotion and policy understanding. The program prepares nurses to lead improvements in patient outcomes and to advance their careers in a flexible and fully online format.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites

  • Documented completion of an associate degree or diploma in nursing leading to RN licensure
  • A recommended cumulative GPA of 2.5 (applicants below 2.5 are still considered)

Application Requirements

  • Complete the online application for the RN to BSN program

Official Transcripts

  • Submit official transcripts from every college or university attended (except UC)
  • Transcripts must be sent directly by the institution to admissions@uc.edu or mailed by the school

UC cannot accept transcripts sent by students

Transfer Credits

  • UC accepts coursework from regionally accredited institutions.
  • Courses from nationally accredited institutions do not transfer

Non-transferable institutions include: ATA/Beckfield College, Fortis College, Straightliner, Hondros College of Nursing, Galen College of Nursing (prior to 2013)

General education courses not completed as part of the ADN must be taken within the RN to BSN program

Students can review equivalencies through the Transfer Equivalency Database or view partner school agreements on the Articulation Agreements page

UC Blue Ash & Readmission

  • UC Blue Ash and returning RN to BSN students must submit a readmission application
  • Students without a UC M# should email onlineenrollment@uc.edu
  • Current RN to BSN students who have not taken classes for more than three semesters must also complete the readmission form

State Regulations

Because of state nursing board and higher education regulations, UC cannot accept RN to BSN applicants from:

  • Louisiana
  • Massachusetts
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Tennessee
  • Washington

U.S. Territories Restrictions

UC cannot admit students from: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Career opportunities for registered nurses with a BSN are likely to be very strong. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 6 percent from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations. The median annual wage for a bachelor-prepared nurse is $81,220, with opportunities for increased earning potential through further education and advanced responsibilities. U.S. News & World Report names registered nurses as #8 on its list of 100 Best Jobs.

Graduates of our RN to BSN Online program are excellent communicators and passionate healthcare professionals dedicated to working with diverse populations throughout their healthcare journey.
