Healthcare Operational Excellence focuses on improving quality and efficiency within healthcare settings. The program, rooted in the Pharmacy 5.0 framework, is harmoniously aligned with the principles of Industry 4.0/5.0. It will harness a variety of advanced technologies and concepts, including Lean Six Sigma (LSS), machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data analysis, among others, to enhance operational performance to improve quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and system resilience for patient care,leading to an enhanced patient-centered. As the culmination of this comprehensive program, students will have the opportunity to complete a thesis or capstone project that combines curricular outcomes from the entire program. 

Admission Requirements

A U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or an equivalent degree

Biology, chemistry, or science-related degrees, health science degrees, economics, and business degrees (Sales and Marketing) Marketing is a type of business degree. 

Some experience in clinical research or healthcare.

A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

For international students, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of at least 90 (internet-based) or 235 (computer-based), IELTS- minimum score of 6.5 overall band, or a Duolingo English test of at least 110 is accepted.

Transcripts must be submitted for evaluation to an agency recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluating Services. 

The UC MS in Healthcare Operational Excellence will prepare students for careers in pharmaceutical and medical devices industry market access and research, health insurance companies, healthcare administration, pharmacy benefit managers, contract research organizations, healthcare operations and logistics, and academia. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects medical and health services manager roles, including process improvement management, to grow 28% from 2021 to 2031.

In order to successfully graduate, the student must meet the following requirements:

The student must earn satisfactory grades for all courses required.

The student must complete the 30 hours required for the degree.

The student must satisfactorily complete the required capstone project

The student must satisfactorily complete all applicable college and program requirements specific to the student’s program of study.

The student must maintain active student status; meaning the student must register for at least one graduate credit in their program in an academic year, after having met minimum degree course/candidacy requirements.

All grades of NG, I, UP, SP must be satisfactorily resolved to ensure on time graduation.

International students are eligible to apply.
