Admission Requirements
1. Bachelor's Degree in a related field (with a cumulative GPA of a 3.00 or higher). If a student has a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field, they must show evidence that the following courses were taken and passed: Anatomy and Physiology and Exercise Physiology.

The UC Advantage for the Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science program is significantly enhanced by its faculty's extensive expertise in sports science, exercise physiology, and blood flow and vascular research, along with robust collaborations with UC athletics, UC Health, and the broader community. This interdisciplinary approach ensures that students receive a rich and diversified learning experience, reflecting the latest advancements and practices in the field.
While the program's online delivery model provides flexibility and accessibility, eliminating the need for physical attendance or specialized equipment, MSESS students also have the unique opportunity to access two advanced human performance laboratories located within the Teachers-Dyer Complex. This access fosters a hands-on learning environment, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings and engage in transdisciplinary research, further enhancing the UC Advantage.
Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout their graduate coursework to graduate. The program consists of 30 credits, including 21 core curriculum credits and 9 elective credits from approved UC online courses.
For the culminating experience in their final semester, students will undertake a 3-credit Applied Experience in Exercise and Sport Science, choosing between an internship or a capstone research project. Internship participants must complete at least 100 hours at an approved site, along with a portfolio and presentation showcasing their mastery of key competencies. Capstone project students will apply research skills to design or enhance a program for a specific population, demonstrating practical application of the program's core concepts.
