Hygienic Manufacturing of Cosmetic Products Graduate Certificate Highlights

High Quality Education

This program provides specialized training in cosmetic formulation science, preservation, and hygienic manufacturing practices, with a strong foundation in plant engineering. Designed for cosmetic chemists and manufacturing professionals, it equips learners to proactively identify and mitigate microbial contamination risks, ensuring the production of safe, high-quality cosmetic products.

Industry leaders, through the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), have identified hygienic manufacturing as a critical and growing challenge as manufacturers shift toward more natural ingredients and less robust preservative systems. These changes have increased the risk of contamination, product loss, and costly plant remediation. In response to this workforce gap, PCPC partnered with the University of Cincinnati to develop the Hygienic Manufacturing of Cosmetic Products Graduate Certificate, preparing professionals to meet today’s evolving industry demands.

Flexibility

  • 100% online
  • Start in the fall, spring, or summer semester
  • This certificate is complementary to the existing programs. Key manufacturing elements, especially the hygienic aspects, are covered with two new Hygienic Manufacturing courses.
  • Credits from this certificate can be applied toward the Master of Science program.

Support from Application through Graduation

The University of Cincinnati's online course fees differ depending on the program. On average, students will accrue fewer fees than students attending on-campus classes.

The one fee applied across all UC Online programs is the distance learning fee. Students living outside the state of Ohio must also pay an additional “non-resident” fee to enroll in courses at UC Online. This fee is lower than the out-of-state fee for traditional on-campus programs.
