With years of experience, the University of Cincinnati’s School of Education has been a true pioneer in the field of Gifted, Creative, and Talented Education nationwide. The Gifted Endorsement at the University of Cincinnati Online is designed for licensed K-12 teachers who want to enhance their ability to differentiate instruction and better serve the learning styles of their gifted-identified students.
The federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act defines gifted and talented students as “Students, children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services and activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities.” [Title IX, Part A, Definition 22. (2002)] Many states and districts follow the federal definition.
Gifted Education consists of theories, practices, and procedures designed for students who have been identified as gifted or talented. This method of teaching help high-ability students remain engaged to continue advancing in their education.
