The Master of Science in Cosmetic Science online program is designed for employees in the cosmetics industry who are looking to reach the next level in their field. Scientists, chemists, and others interested in working in the cosmetic science industry will benefit from this online degree program.


  • A U.S. bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an equivalent degree from a foreign country in the field of science such as chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or similar field
  • A grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.00 or foreign equivalent
  • At least one semester of undergraduate course work in organic chemistry and calculus, or related fields; or the equivalent as determined by the graduate program
  • If English is not your native language, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of at least 90 (internet-based) or 235 (computer-based) is required
    • Or, for foreign students, Duolingo English Test of at least 105 is accepted
  • GRE with a minimum score of 290/3.0 obtained within the past five years is required for admission into the MS degree program. MCAT could be used as a substitute for GRE. Other GRE waiver options are listed in the application. GRE is not required for admission into the GC program.
  • You may be eligible for a GRE waiver if you:
    • Have an undergraduate degree from UC in a relevant field
    • Have completed a graduate degree in a relevant field
    • Have numerous years of relevant work experience with demonstrated advancement
    • Have a combination of GPA and years of relevant work experience
