Admission Requirements

Admission into the University of Cincinnati’s Master of Engineering in Robotics & Intelligent Autonomous Systems online program is selective and based on meeting the requirements outlined below.

Applications for the online program are reviewed in a manner that carefully considers all items in your application portfolio. Our admissions office is happy to work with you to answer any questions you may have and help determine your eligibility.

Prerequisites

Applicants must possess an engineering bachelors’ degree from a regionally and ABET accredited college/university, preferably in the area of Electrical/Mechanical/Robotics Engineering.
Applicants with a background in the following areas may also be considered:
- - Similar Engineering Disciplines
  - Physical Science
Overall minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (recommended)
GRE- GRE scores are required if:
- Applicant’s bachelor’s degree is from a non-ABET accredited program.
- Applicant’s bachelor’s GPA is below a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant is an International Student with a bachelor’s degree earned outside of the United States.

Professional Resume:

A resume relevant to academic and professional data. It should include the applicant’s name; phone; email; colleges and degrees, dates conferred, and GPA; employment history; professional experience; present employer; and references.

Curriculum Vitae:

A detailed look at the applicant’s career path, including achievements, publications, and awards. Include comprehensive information about research background, presentations, publications, committee memberships and any experience of an academic, clinical, or scientific nature.

One Letter of Recommendation (LOR)

Recommendations should come from individuals who can attest to your academic and professional skills. References from current and former employers or professional organizations you are involved in are always desirable.
LOR should explain relationship to the applicant, and any knowledge of applicant’s academic and professional abilities.
LORs from family, friends or current students are not accepted.
LORs are submitted by the recommender themselves; they cannot be completed or submitted by the applicant.

Unofficial Transcripts

All applicants are required to upload unofficial transcripts during the application process, showing all undergraduate and graduate course work completed, including degrees granted and dates of conferral. Official transcripts are not required until the student has received and accepted an offer of admission from the university.

GRE Scores

Official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores are not required, unless the applicant:

Did not graduate with a four-year bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering or engineering technology program from an institution located in the United States OR
Did not achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Minimum GPA

Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited institution with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. All official transcripts must be from a regionally accredited or equivalent college or university recommended.

International Applicant Requirements

International students are required to provide specific information about their transcripts and requirements for applicants whose native language is not English.
Transcripts must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
GRE scores are required.
English Proficiency Test: TOEFL (minimum 92) or IELTS (minimum 6.5).

Transfer Credits

You may transfer up to one third of the credits of the program (about 9 credits credit hours of graduate courses from a regionally accredited college or university). These credits must have been earned within the last five years and be approved by the program faculty.

All UC graduate credits are eligible to fulfill requirements in the new program, based on faculty evaluation of the equivalence to courses in the new curriculum and program approval.

FAQs

Can I do both online and on-campus programs at the same time?

In very limited situations a program may offer pertinent courses you can take both on-campus and online. Typically, you choose your mode of education (in-person or distance) at the beginning of your program.
Can I apply to more than one program at a time?

No. You must choose one program to apply for in any given semester.
Do I need to take/submit the LSAT to apply for the Master of Legal Studies online program?

Successful applicants to the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum GPA of 2.75. Applications will be reviewed holistically, such that work experience and other factors indicating the likelihood of success will be given considerable weight.

While the University of Cincinnati Online MLS program is not requiring any admissions test, prospective students may submit a GRE, LSAT, GMAT, or other standardized admissions test score to supplement their application. This is encouraged if the potential applicant does not meet the GPA requirement above.
