Standing out
The University of Cincinnati is proud to be one of only three academic establishments in Ohio to be a part of the VetSuccess program. UC has paired with the Department of Veterans Affairs to create a program that provides counseling services to veterans, service members, and their dependents. This program extends to online students and out-of-state students as well. For more information, follow the link provided.
How it helps
Transitioning to college life can be challenging and the Department of Veteran Affairs has developed some innovative ways to help active military, veterans, and their families make the switch. The VetSuccess online program facilitates this process by providing counseling for all their benefits, helping them through their college careers and into their professional life.
A Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) is provided to each school that supports the VetSuccess program. In addition, a Vet Center Outreach Coordinator is also available to provide active counseling and referral services.
The partnerships the VA has with institutions of higher learning are strengthened by this program and help military-affiliated students seamlessly move into their college careers from their daily lives. Everyone has educational and professional career goals that they want to achieve. The VetSuccess counselors help to ensure this throughout the process. Because of their accessibility, any problems or concerns that may arise can be dealt with and resolved before they begin to interfere with classes, assignments, or even everyday responsibilities. In addition to this assistance, the counselors can also provide referrals for health services through VA Medical Centers, Community-Based Outpatient Clinics, or Vet Centers.
