The Master of Health Informatics program does not require any healthcare or IT experience. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher do not need to take the GRE or GMAT. Students with a GPA of 2.75 – 3.0 may still qualify for the program on a conditional admit basis and/or be required to take the GRE or GMAT.

Transcripts

  • Unofficial transcripts from all college or universities attended (unofficial transcripts are provided by student).
  • Official transcripts are sent from each institution directly to UC. Official transcripts should not be sent to the Graduate School until you are accepted and have completed your online enrollment form (included with acceptance letter).

*Students with degrees awarded from institutions in China will be provided with further instruction.


Letter of Intent

  • Include a two-page (double-spaced) or one-page (single-spaced) narrative summarizing the following:
    • What motivated you to pursue a graduate degree in Health Informatics?
    • Why are you interested in applying to the University of Cincinnati’s MHI program?
    • What are your short and long-term goals? How will this degree help you attain those goals?

The Letter of Intent is comparable to a written interview. Please take this opportunity to explain any inconsistencies in your resume, transcripts, etc.


Letters of Recommendation (2)

  • Letters of Recommendation must be written on professional letterhead.
  • These individuals will be completing these forms on your behalf. Please submit their full name and email address in your application. The official Recommendation Form will be sent to them through the application system. Once they complete the form (online), it will become a part of your application. Recommendation letters submitted by the student will not be accepted.
  • The Letters should come from people who are, or have been, in a position to evaluate your work in an academic and/or professional setting (i.e. current or former employers, supervisors/managers, professors, mentors, etc). Professional or academic relationships must have been for at least one year. Personal recommendations will not be accepted.
  • Recommendation Letters should be thoughtful and substantive. They should speak specifically to personal knowledge of your academic potential and/or relevant personal qualities. They should speak to your intellectual ability, character, determination, professional and community achievement(s), and your potential contribution to the community with this degree.

Professional Resume/CV

  • Current, professional resume/curriculum vitae
  • Formal Education (incl. continuing education, professional development, etc.) and dates of attendance
  • Employment/career history and timeline
  • Publications and/or honors, including dates received
  • Community and/or professional involvement, including dates

Complete Online Application

  • $65 domestic/$70 international application fee
  • Acceptable forms of payment include: electronic check, MasterCard, American Express and Discover

International Admission Requirements

  • International students aren’t eligible for a student visa for distance learning. Program can be completed from abroad.
  • Minimum TOEFL 93 (waiver applies to certain English-speaking countries).
  • Submit foreign transcripts for evaluation to an agency recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluating Services (NACES; www.naces.org).
  • A letter grade (A, B or C) and earned credit hours must be provided for each course.
  • Students with a degree from a Chinese institution will receive further instruction from an enrollment advisor.
