The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment opportunities for RHITs will grow by 21% through 2020. A corresponding study by AHIMA equates this to job growth of 4,300 positions per year and warns of a substantial shortage of qualified HIM professionals to fill the need.

Student Experience

Anonymous comments extracted from Graduate Surveys:

"I think that this program goes above and beyond with some of the projects that we are required to do. My employers were impressed at the projects that we did and the type of assignments that we were required to do."

"The program was fantastic! I truly enjoyed it. It wasn't easy, it challenged me to dig deeper into myself and my capabilities. In my opinion, the program is perfect the way it is. I feel as though they have prepared me extremely well for the HIM world and the RHIA exam. I have nothing to suggest.'

"This program is by far the best program I have ever experienced. I cannot think of anything to improve it."

Current students in the capstone course also speaks highly about the program.

"Before signing up for any school that offered HIM as a major, I did my research on every school possible. Not only was UC accredited by AHIMA, but they were affordable and transferring my credits were a breeze. I absolutely enjoyed taking courses with UC and have gained so much knowledge not only from the instructors but from my fellow classmates through the discussion boards and team projects we were involved in. The instructors were amazing and provided answers to questions I had and provided great material! The strongest areas of UC are the instructors being available to answer any questions and provide clarity on assignments fast. "I would tell someone that was considering taking this program, to just go for it.  The program walks you through HIM and the many different facets of it.  I have gained health information management skills, project management skills, financial management skills, along with health data management skills.  Looking back now I think this program was a blessing in disguise.  I always had to try to keep pushing forward, sometimes not as well as others, but I kept pushing the best I could.  I had a great experience in all from the classes, instructors and students."

-Heather

"Going into this I thought my knowledge base was larger than it really was due to over thirty years’ experience in the field. My eyes were opened to how much I didn’t know and the fact that there was a great deal for me to learn.  I am thankful for what I have learned, and would tell anyone considering this program to go for it!  There is always something to be learned with an open mind."
