Learn more about Abbey H., Student Success Coordinator for BTAS and learn about the support you will receive while you’re in BTAS. Step-by-Step with Abbey H. I graduated from UC with an undergraduate degree in Sociology. I always saw myself in some type of advising role where I could help people problem solve and make sure they were on track to succeed in whatever they were doing. My role as a Student Success Coordinator has given me the opportunity to live out my passion. I love being a helpful hand for students and ensuring they have a positive experience in the BTAS Degree. Orientation Support: Getting started is simple! Students receive a welcome email from me with all the steps to get started. In the email, there is a link to schedule a Welcome Call. On the call we will go over course information, the program plan, UC systems, and best practices for online learning. It is a great time for students to ask any questions they have about getting started in the program. Students also take a BTAS orientation in Canvas that provides them all the tools they need to get started with online courses. Course Registration: Students will register for classes using Catalyst. I walk through the very prescriptive program plan during our Welcome Call, so students know exactly what classes to take each semester. We provide a lot of resources on how to use our UC systems, I send students step-by-step instructions on how to register, and I am always open to walking through registration with students. Check-ins: I check in regularly throughout the semester with my students, reminding them of upcoming deadlines, class registrations, and anything else that has come up in the program. I call new students within their first three to four weeks in the program to see how their semester is going and to gather their feedback. Graduation Support: Students will have an expected graduation date at the end of our Welcome Call. We work with students to set a graduation plan that works with their schedule and outside commitments. As life changes, we assist students in adjusting their graduation plan to help them graduate in a timely manner. As the Student Success Coordinator for the BTAS degree, I am here to be supportive and assist students in any questions they may have during their time in the program. I look forward to talking with you in the near future.
