With more than 10 years of experience, the University of Cincinnati’s School of Education has been a true pioneer in the field of Gifted, Creative and Talented Education nationwide. The Gifted Education Certificate at the University of Cincinnati Online is designed for licensed K-12 teachers who want to enhance their ability to differentiate instruction and better serve the learning styles of their gifted identified students.
The certificate is offered 100% online, providing flexibility for modern teachers. This program will instruct teachers on how to provide their high-ability students ways to reach their full potential. Teachers will learn from experienced and renowned faculty from a nationally-ranked college.
Students of this certificate may apply course credits toward the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and the Master of Education in Educational Leadership, which are also 100% online.
The program is a research-to-practice model that allows the student to implement research-based practices into the classroom and immediately enhance the learning outcomes of students.
Contents of this program satisfy the coursework requirement for the Ohio Department of Education’s Gifted, Creative, and Talented Endorsement and meets Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standard.

The federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act defines gifted and talented students as “Students, children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services and activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities.” [Title IX, Part A, Definition 22. (2002)] Many states and districts follow the federal definition.
