The online STEM Teaching and Learning Certificate program develops a consistent framework for advancing educators’ knowledge on a range of strategies to teach and asses learning in STEM areas.

The certificate is designed for current educators who hold a teaching license, or informal educators seeking professional development in STEM areas and growth in more effectively teaching the STEM disciplines.

STEM Teaching and Learning Certificate students can expect the following outcomes from the program:

  • Produce a STEM project-based learning activity.
  • Adapt a current curricular or learning activity into an integrated STEM activity.
  • Participate in a STEM inquiry learning activity.
  • Implement, assess, and monitor student learning during a STEM activity.

Students may also apply course credits toward the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, which is also 100% online.

What is STEM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Earning the STEM Teaching and Learning Certificate will help school-based and informal educators create interdisciplinary learning experiences with STEM subjects as the point of focus.
