University of Cincinnati’s STEM Teaching & Learning Certification Program

UC’s online graduate certificate in STEM education is designed for current educators who hold a teaching license or informal educators seeking professional development in STEM areas to more effectively teach STEM disciplines.

What will I learn?

With a 90% graduation rate, students who earn their STEM certification for teachers online can expect to learn how to apply an interdisciplinary approach to integrate STEM into practice across disciplines.

Students will also learn:

  • How to improve instructional effectiveness with clinical experience.
  • To develop science teaching skills in laboratory and inquiry settings.
  • Mathematics as problem-solving for math and sciences teachers.
  • Activities to illustrate math as an interdisciplinary topic.
  • Principles of universal design for learning in blended and online contexts.
  • Fundamental understanding of learning sciences and technology.
Program Overview and Outcomes

After completing the program, STEM Graduate Certificate students can expect to be able to produce a STEM project-based learning activity and to adapt a current curricular or learning activity into an integrated STEM activity. Additionally, students will learn how to participate in a STEM inquiry learning activity and how to implement, assess, and monitor student learning during a STEM activity.
