Graduates with a Master of Education in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from the University of Cincinnati Online use the principles of human behavior to help build positive social skills and improve the lives of individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, and more. Additionally, our program provides the specific coursework required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and prepares you for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam when supervision requirements are also met.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), is the scientific study of the principles of learning and behavior. Behavioral analysis relies upon the best available scientific knowledge to describe, understand, predict, and change behavior.
UCO’s Master of Education in Foundations in Behavior Analysis program focuses on providing students with the core skills to serve individuals with behavioral and learning challenges across multiple settings including clinics, schools, residential facilities, and in-home by providing students with strategies to support the needs and increase the level of independent functioning of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Students earning their ABA masters learn to guide and teach individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, cognitive impairment, anxiety, mood disorders, eating and feeding disorders, and substance abuse. These same approaches are also used for goals such as increasing student accuracy on academic tasks, managing children’s behavior at home, and increasing work productivity.
“So far, I have enjoyed the asynchronous model-- I am a full time teacher, a part time RBT, and a CLS worker. Being able to complete my assignments on my own time has set me up for success. I also enjoy collaborating with my professors and my peers. Working with others in the field has really helped me grow in ABA. ”
“ I've never felt so welcome and included by professors. It's inspiring that they see me for who I am and my contributions to life beyond the program. I feel that my identity is uplifted the deeper I go into the course material. It's empowering! I really appreciate how engaging and open the professors are. I have asked plenty of questions, shared concerns, and received additional support. I'm on the road to becoming a BCBA!”
“I appreciate the ability to go at my own pace. I work full time and have 3 children at home. I am very busy and not being required to attend a class at set times allows me to be present for my children and have the flexible schedule to work around my job.”
“I love how responsive the professors are and how passionate they are about the field. It’s motivating! ”
