What You Can Do with a Behavior Analysis Degree

The field of behavioral analysis is experiencing significant growth, creating a wealth of new and exciting career opportunities. The job outlook is highly favorable for those with a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis (ABA) due to an ongoing shortage of qualified behavior analysts.

The BACB’s Employment Demand Report shows that the nationwide demand for individuals with BCBA or BCBA-D certification has risen consistently each year since 2010, with a 14% increase from 2022 to 2023.

After becoming certified, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) can work in a wide range of settings, utilizing their expertise in behavior analysis across various fields. Common areas where BCBAs find employment include:

  • Therapy and Healthcare Centers – BCBAs work in autism treatment centers to develop individualized plans for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in mental health clinics to address behavioral issues, and in rehabilitation centers to assist individuals recovering from injury or addiction.
  • Educational Settings – BCBAs work in K-12 schools to support students with special needs by designing behavior intervention plans and may supervise future analysts, and in special education programs to develop programs for students with developmental disabilities.
  • Consulting – BCBAs are often hired as consultants by organizations, schools, and government agencies to assess behavior-related issues and offer solutions based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles.
  • Business Settings – BCBAs may also work in corporate settings, helping businesses improve employee performance, create effective training programs, and enhance overall workplace productivity and culture.

We actively encourage our students and professionals to present their work at conferences, providing valuable opportunities to showcase their contributions to the field of behavior analysis.

These events are key for fostering professional growth, expanding networks, and sharing cutting-edge research and best practices. Participating in conferences not only enhances career prospects but also contributes to the ongoing advancement of behavior analysis as a discipline. Some examples of conferences that may be attended are ABAI, OHABA, and CALABA and WIBA.
