The University of Cincinnati offers reduced tuition rates for PreK-12 teachers to enhance their current credentials through our PreK-12 Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Endorsement program.
The TESOL Graduate Endorsement is aligned with the TESOL International Association’s and State of Ohio’s TESOL standards. This Endorsement is offered online in response to the growing population of English language learners in U.S. classrooms and the academic demand at national and international levels.
This PreK – 12 TESOL Endorsement online is geared toward individuals who are licensed in single or multiple subject areas and are interested in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).

The Endorsement is offered 100% online: Providing flexibility for modern teachers. No campus visits are required and the program’s fully online format enables students to complete all degree requirements without having to relocate to the greater Cincinnati metropolitan area.
Part-time and full-time scheduling: Have the flexibility to balance work and family obligations while completing your teaching endorsement. Every student enrolled online is assigned a dedicated Academic Advisor as well as a Student Success Coordinator who provides one-on-one support. They are your on-campus partners who can help you manage your time and ensure you’re meeting degree requirements to get you to graduation.
Scholarships available now: Eligible students applying for the endorsement program may qualify for the Professional Development Award equating to a 30% off their entire bill, fees included, and the application fee is waived as well.
Earning the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Endorsement creates additional opportunities for an educator’s career choices. The demand for teachers is constant and employment growth is high.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the need for ESOL teachers in particular was expected to be greater than average since the number of U.S. students who don’t speak English was predicted to continue to grow. While many people who pursue ESOL careers choose to become teachers, there also are opportunities available for those seeking jobs outside the traditional classroom. Courses taken prior to admission into the graduate certificate program may be eligible for transfer into the program, if taken within 5 years prior to admission and if approved by the program faculty. Official paperwork is required and the appropriate forms may be obtained from the Director of Graduate Studies.
To maintain active status in the program, students must register for at least one credit every academic year. Degree requirements must be completed within 5 years of the date of admission. Practicum coursework cannot be transferred into the program and up to (9) semester credit hours can be transferred into the program upon approval of the department.
