Candidates who wish to apply to the Master’s in Special Education program must meet the following requirements.

APPLICATION PREREQUISITES:
  1. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  2. Undergraduate Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (4.0 scale).
  3. Statement of academic and professional goals, with a cover letter.
  4. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation.
  5. Unofficial transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.
  6. A current, valid professional teaching license.

*GRE is required if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 (4.0 scale).

  • GRE Scores: All three sections of the General Test taken within the last 5 years.
    • Desired Scores: 470 Verbal; 540 Quantitative, and 4.5 Writing (old scale) OR 151 Verbal; 147 Quantitative, and 4.5 Writing (new scale).

Application Requirements

Candidates who wish to apply to the Intervention Specialist Licensure program must meet the following requirements.

  1. Prerequisite Degree – The applicant must possess a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  2. Minimum GPA – The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at the undergraduate level leading to the Bachelor Degree.
  3. Teaching License – The applicant must possess a current valid Ohio teaching licensure or current valid administrator licensure.

Application Process

To apply, use the Tk20 Portal and follow the below process:

Tk20 Account Holders:
  • Sign in to Tk20 with your 6+2
  • On the main menu, click “Applications”
  • Select “Application to Special Education- Post Bacc 2021
All Other Applicants:
  • Go to uc.tk20.com
  • Click “Admissions” at the bottom of the home page.
  • Click “Click here to create your account” at the bottom of the page.
  • Create a guest account (make note of your username and password)
  • Click “Admissions Applications” from the menu.
  • Click “Create New Application”
  • Locate the “Application to Special Education- Post Bacc 2021
Items Submitted with Application:
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
    • One (1) from Immediate Supervisor or Principal
    • One (1) from an individual familiar with your success as a teacher
  • Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work attempted
  • Copies of all valid teaching licensures/certificates
